Booked In Festival with Duncan Ball!

WP_20140815_001Our sub-branch collaborated this week with the New England Writers’ Centre and the School of Arts, UNE, to present the Booked In festival of children’s and YA literature at venues in Armidale and Uralla.

Featured visiting author for the week was Duncan Ball, popular author of the much-loved Selby the talking dog series, Emily Eyefinger series and many others, who visited several schools in our region–in person in Armidale and Uralla, and through video link to Tamworth–as well as talking at Armidale and Dumaresq Library and participating in several activities on Saturday in Uralla, including a workshop, panel discussion, book signing and book launch. Duncan was a great hit everywhere he went, inspiring audiences of children and adults equally! He is pictured above giving his talk at Armidale library.

Other authors and illustrators also taking part in Saturday’s events included writer Ian Irvine, illustrator Anne Spudvilas, writer Sophie Masson, illustrator David Allan, writer/illustrator Fiona McDonald and graphic novelist Danny Stanley. Danny and Anne were in the New England region as the UNE’s Illustrators in Residence.

Thank you to the Country Arts Support Program for helping to fund Duncan’s visit!
